Initially they only send in engineer Zahir's state of the art robot and prepare to leave Egypt, but it gets lost and they get heavily-armed corporal Shahid to cover for them to retrieve it 'two hours max'. However they soon get lost, stumble upon traps, cause a collapse and fear to be utterly stuck, falling down a thirty meters shaft, into an atypical maze with confusing hieroglyphs. Mounting fear turns into justified despair overshadowing scientific curiositythey find themselves watched, next attacked by voracious, cannibalistic critters between rats and cats, and next a figure which resembles the god of last judgment Anubis. This was not only the worst horror movie I have ever seen but worst movie in general I have ever seen in the world!!!! How any one can give this a good rating I don't know. Even if I was blind I would say this was a terrible movie. Only reason I gave this movie a 1 was because I couldn't give it any lower of a rating. So in conclusion Worst movie ever. I would rather get my eyes scratched out by the poorly graphically designed cats than watch this movie. How this director was able to get this movie financed is beyond belief. I hope to god he does not make any more movies not only in the near future but ever in fact he should probably choose a different profession. I'm so glad I wasted an hour and a half of my life on this piece of crap. When I first learned about this movie (seeing it available for rent at my neighbourhood video store), I was puzzled, because it was from a major Hollywood studio and yet I hadn't heard of it. Subsequent research on my part uncovered that the studio didn't give the movie much publicity or distribution to theaters, and after watching the movie I think I can see why. It gets off to a decent start - there is a little thrill by the setup of finding an ancient Egyptian pyramid and wondering what may be inside. However, after the first twenty or so minutes, things start to go downhill. The protagonists certainly don't act like professional archaeologiststhey make their way into the pyramid, and they make a lot of decisions that would be considered stupid for any kind of person. The worst thing about the movie, however, is that it's not at all scary or even mildly creepy - it seems to be going right by the book instead of adding originality or surprises. It certainly doesn't help that the CGI special effects are really bad, giving the movie both a cheap feeling and a phony feel. So in the end I'm glad that I waited for a copy of this movie to show up in my local library so I could then see it for free. This enjoyable-despite-itself horror flick has precisely nothing new to offer - with the arguable exception of a monster in a miniskirt, which may be a first.
